Lina Lennie

Welcome to PilatesMe

My name is Lina

I am a Level 4 Pilates teacher, with more than 15 years experience. I teach clients of all ages and abilities in West Berkshire area and online.  I offer classes and individual mat based Pilates and Pilates Reformer sessions, online and through the University of the Third Age. I trained with Body Control Pilates Association UK, which is a world leading training organisation that works on the building blocks approach, increasing confidence and strength before adding on a progression, growing awareness of your body and mind.  I trained with NeuroStudio (US) to use Pilates as a tool for those with neurological conditions.
I am also qualified to teach Mindfulness and meditation.
Qigong is one of my passions. I trained in Qigong with numerous teachers and gladly share my knowledge with my clients as a form of warm up, relaxation or moving meditation.

PILATES strengthens the whole body, especially core and back muscles, improves stamina, coordination, balance, flexibility, enhances concentration, and uses breath to relax and unwind.
Mindfulness is a powerful skill, which teaches you to pay attention to everything in your life without judgment, with kindness to yourself and the world. It is a useful tool in Pilates class, which helps to connect your body and mind.

Qigong is moving meditation, which tones, strengthens your body, calms your nervous system and enhances your balance. It is great as a warm up and concentration practice before a slightly more strenuous Pilates class.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a way of life. It teaches you to live more fully, to achieve the place of balance and ease, here and now. I use a combination of Mindfulness meditation and Mindful walking, which has proved highly beneficial to those experiencing chronic health conditions and mental health issues. Mindfulness meditation is a powerful way to relax your body and mind, becoming the observer of whatever is happening right now in your body, heart and mind.

Pilates

At the beginning of the 20th century, Joseph Pilates created a method based on his extensive knowledge of yoga, Tai Chi and Martial Arts. He called it Contrology. It is, in Joseph Pilates’ own words: ‘a complete coordination of the body, mind and spirit’. After his death, Contrology was renamed Pilates after its creator.
Pilates aims to strengthen core muscles in order to create a corset for lower back support, to mobilise the spine, take joints through healthy full range of motion and build the muscles around joints in order to prevent wear and tear, injuries and lower back pain. It teaches postural stability, a good alignment and relaxation.

Qigong

Qigong (pronounced chee gong) is an ancient movement meditation practice, healing art and self-cultivation system from Chinese medicine. It uses breath and gentle movements to activate your innate energy- Qi.  Qigong improves energy levels, calms nervous system, while improving your balance and coordination.

Testimonials

As a Chartered Physiotherapist myself, I am a harsh judge of Pilates teachers, but with Lina I have yet to find a flaw in her programmes, design of her classes (always varied each week), or her instruction technique. As a testament to her excellence I not only recommend my patients to her, but also attend her class for my own physical well-being

My wife and I have been with Lina’s classes for some years. She is an excellent teacher and we have learned a great deal, both physical and mental wellness. Highly recommended.
-- John Sturt
I have been going to Lina’s pilates classes for over a year now. I look forward to them every week. Lina is a great teacher who pays attention to everyones abilities and needs, making sure that the exercises are carried out correctly (she is very thorough). She is also a ray of sunshine, always making the class smile or giggle. I love her classes!!!
— Debbie Chubb
I did a course of mindfulness meditation with Lina and can say it helped me greatly. Not only I was introduced into meditation slowly and gradually but also had a chance to find out about topics like Trust, Beginners Mind or Letting go which I was struggling with for a long time. I learnt to observe my thought rather than react to them.
I have also done Lina's Pilates classes and can say that Lina is a brilliant teacher and looks after everyone in her class. No-one feels missed-out. Lina puts all her heart and soul in what she does and I could not recommend her enough either for Pilates or meditation.
— Gitana Shilin

Suffering from fibromyalgia, I started Pilates with Lina 16 months ago. I have changed so much since then, all thanks to Lina and her kind and understanding way of teaching.
